Every year, the term of service for a few of our Deacons comes to an end, and nominations for Diaconate election are open. These same deacons can be approached to be nominated for another term, or you can nominate someone that God has laid upon your heart.
The requirement for diaconate election are as follows:
- The person must have been a Church member for at least 6 months.
- The person must be over 21 years of age.
- The person must satisfy the requirements as detailed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
Even though the 1 Timothy text is gender specific, a broader investigation of Scripture reveals that a deacon can be either male or female.
There are specific nomination forms that need to be signed by three persons:
- the nominee proposer
- a seconder
- the nominee themselves
The forms must be returned to the Church office by 6 October.
