Every year, the term of service for a few of our Deacons comes to an end, and nominations for Diaconate election are open. These same deacons can be approached to be nominated for another term, or you can nominate someone that God has laid upon your heart.
The requirement for diaconate election are as follows:
- The person must have been a Church member for at least 6 months.
- The person must be over 21 years of age.
- The person must satisfy the requirements as detailed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
Even though the 1 Timothy text of many translations is gender specific, a broader investigation of the original language and of Scripture, reveals that a deacon can be either male or female.
Please note that nominations can only be submitted and seconded by a church member and only on the specified nomination form. This form must be signed by three persons:
- the nominee proposer
- a seconder
- the nominee themselves
The nomination forms for this current election must be returned to the Church office by Monday 5 February 2018.
The names of deacons whose term of service comes to an end are:
Please do not just submit a nomination for the sake of submitting a name. Rather, earnestly seek God in prayer for whom it is that He wishes to fulfill the role of Deacon at Glenwood Community Church.
